Xavi: We should have scored more goals

Xavi insists that Barcelona dominated the match against Napoli, he agrees with the penalty and believes they should have won by more than two goals lead.

Piotr Zielinski had opened the scoring for the guests at the Camp Nou in the first match of the Europa League play-off.

However, the locals equalized the score after an 11-meter.

“All we lacked was concretization,” the coach told a news conference.

“We moved the ball well and had 20 scoring chances, seven of them very good. Considering the way we played, we deserved the victory, even with more than two goals. We are in the Europa League, it is not friendly, so the result is insufficient, but I am happy with the performance. It is unfortunate that we did not transform our dominance into more goals. “The boys played a fluent style of football, we attacked until the end and tried in every way to score,” said Xavi.

Ferran Torres converted the shot from the penalty spot, but also missed many chances to score from the open game.

“I am very happy that he is playing for Barcelona and I hope he will be here for a long time. We have to have confidence, I’m sure he will score a lot of goals. “The Barcelona shirt weighs more than the others, but he must know that he has our absolute confidence,” he declared.

The away goal rule no longer applies in Europe this season, so the 1-1 result at home is not as bad for Barcelona as it would have been last season.

“It is unfortunate that we will not go to Napoli with at least one goal advantage, but the feelings are very positive. If we continue like this, we will win many matches,” concluded the Spanish coach.
