The man who transferred the Argentine to Barcelona also says he is suffering in Paris
Carles Rexach is the man who carries Lionel Messi’s signing credits for Barcelona and the former skater has spoken of the Argentine leaving, saying that we do not know what really happened last summer and that he would love to see Messi retiring at Camp Nou, as this place was always his home.
“We still do not know exactly why Messi left and I am not sure if it was the right time for him to do so,” Rexach told Super Radio Deportivo in Argentina.
“I would like him to retire in Barcelona. A player who was born here, I would like to retire playing seriously, properly… here.”
“Messi would have to win the World Cup and retire. He deserves it.”
Messi is suffering in Paris
Rexach also commented on the situation of his revealer at the moment at PSG, comparing him to Barcelona. He believes the 34-year-old is having trouble in Paris, as he has a team of individuals who lack identity.
“Messi is suffering at PSG, he is a team of mercenaries,” said Rexach.
“They do not play well or spectacular football or I do not know if they can be considered a team, they win because one day Neymar appears, in another Messi, then Mbappe, they succeed but they do not have an identity as a team.”
“Messi has an obligation to return to Barcelona in whatever role he wants, I wanted him to stay and live in Barcelona. His life with football should end here.”
Rexach has spoken of Barcelona with and without Messi as “before and after”. Last summer an era finally ended, but perhaps chapters of the story about Messi and Barcelona will reopen.
