Southgate plans to meet with Rashford to ‘find out what’s going on’

England manager Gareth Southgate has revealed he will meet with Manchester United star Marcus Rashford to reach the end of his club-level affairs.

The Manchester United striker has seemed a shadow of his old self this season, struggling to influence the Red Devils’s games as a starter or even as a substitute.

Rashford was desperate and poor when he came off the bench against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League at Old Trafford on Tuesday after United were eliminated.

As a result of poor form, the 24-year-old was not invited at all to the March games for the England squad by Southgate.

“It’s a tough time for him and he’s not at his best,” Southgate told reporters.

“I think it’s important, maybe after this camp, for me to sit down with him and find out a little more about what’s going on.”

“I talked to him. I think he understands where he is. “He is very honest in his assessment of everything,” concluded the England coach.
