Rooney criticized him in the media, Ronaldo reciprocates

Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to Wayne Rooney, after his former teammate at Manchester United asked if his return has worked for the English club.

Rooney was a special guest on ‘Monday Night Football’ and touched on a range of topics related to his former team.

He talked about his favorite choice as manager and mentioned the players the club needs to build for the future.

The 36-year-old also claimed that Ronaldo’s transfer to Man United did not work, insisting that they need ‘hungry young players’.

Asked if Ronaldo’s transfer was successful, Rooney replied: “You have to say no right now.”

“I think he scored goals, he scored important goals in the Champions League at the beginning of the season, he scored a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur, but I think if you are looking for the future of the club, you have to go with the younger and hungry players to do their best and set up Manchester United over the next two or three years.

“Of course, Cristiano is going through a bit, he is certainly not the player he was when he was in his 20s, and it happens, this is football. “He is a threat to the gate, but the rest of the game they need more, they need hungry young players.”

This assessment or these criticisms of Rooney did not like the five-time winner of the Golden Ball, who hit the former English representative, calling him ‘jealous’.

Responding to Rooney’s post on social media about his appearance on the MNF, Ronaldo wrote: “Two Jealous”, accompanied by an ’emoji’ of the eyes.

Ronaldo has scored 18 goals in all competitions this season since returning to Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils will go another season without trophies as they risk not qualifying for the Champions League next season.
