Cristiano Ronaldo continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester United, just one season after his return.
However, the former Portuguese coach of the “Red Devils”, Sir Alex Ferguson, can still play a big role for his future.
The “Mirror” reported this Sunday that Ronaldo and Ferguson, who live close to each other in Cheshire, have had regular conversations in their respective luxury homes throughout this season.
Ferguson, who first transferred the 37-year-old to Old Trafford in 2003, played a key role in his return to the English team last year.
The pair have always enjoyed a close relationship and it is believed that Ferguson wants Ronaldo to stay in Manchester for next season as well.
The five-time winner of the “Golden Ball” with Manchester United has a contract valid until June 30, 2023, while in the contract there is an option to extend for another year.
Erik ten Hag will be the coach of the “Red Devils” from next season and it remains to be seen what his plans will be for Ronaldo.
