Ralf Rangnick admitted that there is a gap between his team and that of Pepe Guardiola after the 4-1 defeat of Manchester United by City in the Premier League.
The Red Devils traveled to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday undefeated in 11 games in all competitions, but did not hold out against league leaders.
It took Kevin De Bruynes just five minutes to change the score and he became the first player to score two goals in an edition in the Manchester derby since Sergio Aguero in April 2015.
Rangnick noted the difference in quality between his team and City as he looks forward to a crucial period, with United competing for the top four of the table.
“I think we played a good first half, if not very good. We were competitive. “It is difficult to concede an early goal,” he told Sky Sports after the match.
“We came back, scored a great goal, then suffered another counterattack. It was a very difficult game against one of the best teams in the world. We conceded a fourth goal in the last minute of the game. It’s a tough game. This shows that we have a long way to go to close this gap.”
“Everyone knows how good City are. They are one of the best teams in the world and there is a gap between the two teams. We are fully aware that we have to win matches. This is one of the most difficult. “We have to admit that they were the best team today,” added Ragnick.
After the 28th week, Manchester City continues to be the leader with 69 points, while United has come out of the top four with this loss, which has 47 of them, one less than Arsenal which is positioned in the fourth.
