Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino was disgusted with the referee’s performance on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
The Argentine manager oversaw another collapse of PSG in the major European competition being eliminated after the 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid.
However, Pochettino could not believe that the opening goal of Los Blancos, which started the comeback with three goals, was allowed to stay as regular.
Karim Benzema put pressure on PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and the Italian then donated the ball. Pochettino and the PSG bench felt that Benzema used unfair force and that the VAR should have canceled the goal.
“It is a foul by Benzema against Donnarumma that was not awarded. At that moment we were very shocked and this feeling of injustice had a bad effect,” Pochettino said initially after the match.
“Those fifteen minutes we did not know how to manage emotions because we were the best team.”
“I can not explain. I think we were superior, but we did not manage the game.”
Asked about his future, which was already shrouded in doubt, Pochettino remained diplomatic.
“We have to stay calm at this point. What needs to happen will happen. “We competed to win and now we have to recover from such a strong blow,” concluded the Argentine.
