Paris Saint-Germain held a press conference on Monday afternoon for Kylian Mbappe and Nasser Al-Khelaifi to speak to the media, following the extension of the French striker’s contract until 2025.
Mbappe repeated several times that he did not want to join Real Madrid because he did not feel it was the right moment of his life to leave France.
“I did not think it was the right moment for me to leave the place where I grew up and where I come from,” he said.
Further, he said that he appreciates Real Madrid’s effort, but said that he is satisfied with his decision.
“I appreciate all the effort that Real Madrid made, doing everything they could to make me happy. I am grateful for their love and understand their disappointment. Like I said, I’m French and, as a Frenchman, I wanted to stay here. I am satisfied with my decision,” he said.
