Liverpool defeated Leeds United 6-0 tonight at Anfield Road to pave the way for the title in England. Mohamed Salah (15, 35), Joel Matip (35), Mane (80, 90 + 1) and Virgil van Dijk (90 + 3) scored in this Liverpool victory. After 26 rounds of the Premier League Liverpool is in the race for the title as Manchester City has only three points more in first place
Liverpool started this match with high pressure and risked it from the very beginning.
Stuart Dallas touched the ball with his hand in the area and the referee referred the penalty for Liverpool which Salah converted into a goal in the 15th minute of the match.
Leeds started to recover and scored a goal in the 28th minute but it was canceled because Raphinha was in the offside position.
After that came the second goal.
Three minutes later Leeds’s Luke Ayling would take the penalty in the area. Michael Oliver also consulted VAR for this penalty which was converted into a goal by Mohamed Salah in the 35th minute.
The second half was again controlled by Liverpool, however the Reds were more careful and just circulated the ball.
Curtis Jones took a serious risk in the 75th minute but goalkeeper Meslier made a brilliant save.
Mane would also score the fifth goal in this match to give a victory for the taste of the champion Liverpool.
The fifth goal was scored in the first extra minute of the match.
The match did not end here. In the third extra minute, Virgil Van Dijk would be registered in the list of scorers to score the sixth goal.
This victory makes Liverpool 60 points in the Premier League, three less than Manchester City which is in first place after 26 rounds.
