Inzaghi hits critics at Inter and reveals the contract request

Simone Inzaghi enjoys Inter’s victory over Juventus as a fundamental step in the Scudetto race, as he reveals that he asked the club to postpone a contract renewal and respond to criticism.

The Nerazzurri had not won their Serie A trips in 2022, but broke the ‘curse’ with their first league victory in Turin since November 2012.

It creates a thrilling race for the Scudetto, as Milan – who play today against Bolongna and Napoli have 66 points, Inter 63 and have one game less.

“It’s a fundamental step for us. We are following Milan and Napoli, we know we have conceded points recently, but we will try to recover them in the remaining eight games”, declared Inzaghi for DAZN.

“I did not feel pressure, because to be honest, we are doing better than I expected at this stage in terms of results, appearances and trophies.”

“We have been missing some important players lately, things that people would have talked about at other clubs while discussing tactics for us.”

“I remember at the beginning of the season what people were saying, I remember that Inter had not won at Juventus Stadium for 11 years.”

Inter director Beppe Marotta had told DAZN before the match that Inzaghi’s future was not in doubt, despite the result tonight.

“I have a two-year contract, the club has already asked me to continue, but I have asked them to wait until the end of the season. In my opinion, contracts are worth so much,” the coach revealed.

“We know that seven months of work were overshadowed by the draws against Genoa, Torino and Fiorentina. I feel trusted by the club, the players, the fans.”

“Apparently, we entertained people so much for six or seven months that they were spoiled and forced to criticize. Fortunately, I am now able to distinguish between constructive criticism and those created for other reasons,” he added.
