Frenkie de Jong showed high performance during the surprise 4-1 victory of the Netherlands over Belgium in the League of Nations on Friday night.

The Dutch midfielder, whose career at Barcelona could be nearing an end this summer as the Catalans have to sell him, offered his opinion on why he was able to play so well, stating that the national team style was more suited to the points its strong.

“I play very differently here than in Barcelona. I think it suits me much better,” De Jong told NOS.

De Jong often failed to show the levels of appearances he has proven to be capable of during his recently completed season with Barcelona.

A slight change of position is thought to be an important determining factor.
