Karim Benzema has spoken about his style of play, his beginnings at Real Madrid and the small problem he once had with Jose Mourinho.
After a successful season, Benzema has talked about his career so far.
“I play with instinct, I am an instinctive player and I do whatever comes to my mind on the field,” Benzema told Onze Mondial in an interview when asked about his approach to the football field.
“I never say to myself: ‘I will play against this defender, I have to do this or that’.
Benzema also elaborated on his early days at Real Madrid and the difficulties he faced at first.
“My first season, the first six months, were very difficult, as I was alone and did not speak the language, so everything was complicated,” Benzema explained.
“I had come to a new world, with a new team, a different kind of football. Luckily I did not give up. I remember I had a small problem with Jose Mourinho at one point. We met at the hotel and had a chat the day before the match against Real Mallorca. I was not supposed to play the game and while we were arguing, I said: Start me tomorrow, I will score and make you win the game. The next day I scored and we won 1-0,” said Benzema
Benzema also discussed his relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the players that Benzema has always been inspired by and he discussed this in the interview.
“When I saw what he was doing, I tried to focus on his movements: dribbling, finishing, passing, handling his ball, I shared everything about him,” said Benzema.
