Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has admitted that he has given up his salary of over 400 thousand euros per week to join Barcelona.

The 32-year-old was punished by Mikel Arteta and his captain’s armband was removed for, as Arsenal found, lack of discipline.

A month later, he left Arsenal by mutual agreement and joined Barcelona on the last day of the January transfer window.

“I wanted to come to Barcelona. I gave up my salary because it is an opportunity to come once in a lifetime”, declared the striker from Gabon.

Barcelona had been interested in the transfer of the former Dortmund striker since 2020, but failed to realize it.
