Guardiola admits he was close to leaving Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has revealed he was close to leaving Manchester City in 2020.

The English club was accused of violating the rules of Financial Fair Play and UEFA had decided to exclude the club from European competitions.

However, the decision was then annulled and the Spaniard continues to be at the head of the “Citizens”.

Guardiola has revealed what he had talked to the leaders of the Man City club.

“I told them ‘if you lie to me, I will not be here the next day, I will leave and you will no longer be my friends’, but I trust him 100% from day one,” said the former coach of Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

“When we put something (a sponsor) on the shirt, people say it pays more. They say the money came from the state and other countries, but the money is accurate,” Guardiola said.

The 52-year-old has been Manchester City coach since 2016. His contract expires on June 30, 2023.
