Liverpool will open talks with coach Jurgen Klopp for a new contract. The current contract of the German coach with the English club expires in 2024.
However, the latest indications say that the parties are interested in continuing the cooperation even longer, so it is expected that the negotiations for a new contract will start very soon.
According to him, the former Borussia Dortmund coach will extend his contract for two years, until 2026.
Mike Gordon, president of Fenway Sports Group, was at Anfield Road last night in the Champions League semi-final against Villarreal, along with Marc Kosicke, Klopp’s manager, and talks are expected to begin in the coming days.
Klopp has made it clear several times that he would leave The Reds after his current contract expires.
But it is learned that in recent months he has begun to soften his stance and Liverpool believe they will convince him to extend his seven-year stay at the club.
Klopp joined the Reds in October 2015 and has since become one of the best coaches in the world of football.
He won the Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup in 2019, to later triumph in the Premier League the following year, bringing Liverpool the most important local trophy after 30 years of waiting.
This season, Liverpool can win a full four trophies.
The team triumphed in the Carabao Cup in February, and has the opportunity to lift the trophies of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
Klopp has close relationships with the club owners, especially Gordon, and is enthusiastic about the way the club is going.
