Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez has expressed his happiness after the victory against Sevilla.
The Blaugrana triumphed with the goal scored by Pedri, which was enough in the end for the duel that determined who would be ranked after Real Madrid.
“I could not believe we were not winning, we deserved it but there was always a leg of a Sevilla player,” said Xavi. “Today we beat a super team, one of what you call the ‘big ones’, we beat another big one.”
He stressed that “it is a victory with six points, which shows us where we are”, adding for the match that “in general we were superior, we created many chances, but the goalkeeper Bono was very good. They are the best defensive team in La Liga and had only lost two games.”
Regarding Pedri’s goal, Xavi said: “I personally encourage him to shoot because he has a good shot, but he always has in mind the last pass, the decisive pass, it happened to me too. But, there are moments he realizes and hunts. Today he scored a big goal.”
Xavi also had complaints in the referral, sending a message to the match referees.
“I’m angry that they seem to remind me that I’m still playing. Judges need to understand that they need to be calm. I strongly believe in the honesty of their reference. I do not like to talk more, they have to talk. Gonzalez Fuertes you can ask why he whistled or what he saw. “But I can not speak on behalf of the judges, I believe in his honesty.”
Finally, he said that “at least we will try to win La Liga. When it does not depend on ourselves, we must look at the other. “It is difficult for Madrid to fail so much, but we will try until the end.”
Following this victory, Barcelona has risen to second place in the standings, with points equal to third and fourth place (Atletico Madrid and Sevilla) and 12 points behind leader Real Madrid.
