Jamie Carragher thinks Manchester United made the mistake of bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back in August and has advised the Red Devils to sell him in the summer.
After leaving Old Trafford 12 years ago, Ronaldo returned to the last day of the summer transfer window.
Since then he has scored 15 goals for the “Red Devils”, while he found the first goal of 2022 in Tuesday’s match against Brighton.
Despite these numbers, Carragher insists United should not have brought Ronaldo to the club and believes the best for both sides is for them to split at the end of the season.
“United made the mistake of bringing Ronaldo back in the summer. “It would be an even bigger mistake if they kept it next season,” he wrote in a column published in The Telegraph.
Clarifying his position, Carragher admitted that Ronaldo is still ‘one of the top scorers’, but stressed that United proved he could have scored without him last season.
