Paris Saint-Germain boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi has slammed Florentino Perez and Real Madrid, saying he has almost no relationship with the Spanish giants.
Al-Khelaifi’s dissatisfaction with Real Madrid stems from the efforts of its president, Perez, to establish a separate European competition, the European Super League, with PSG being among the few major European clubs he had chosen not to take part in it.
Speaking ahead of the clash between PSG and Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday, which the French giants won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Kylian Mbappe, Al-Khelaifi acknowledged that he has broken off relations with Perez.
“I will not hide it, we have almost no relationship with Real Madrid. “I will not talk about what happened,” said Al-Khelaifi.
“I believe in football is accessible to small clubs, they are not,” he added.
The plan of the European Super League, which finally failed years ago, envisages that the 12 biggest clubs from the five main European competitions will always participate in it, not allowing the smaller clubs to participate.
