Zinedine Zidane is reportedly close to replacing Mauricio Pochettino as the new coach of the French club, Paris Saint-Germain.
Pochettino led PSG to the Ligue 1 title in his first full season at the helm of the team from the Parc des Princes, but his failure to beat Real Madrid in the 1/16 of the Champions League looks set to dedicate to the former Tottenham manager with his work.
According to Mundo Deportivo journalist Ramon Fuentes, PSG have already lined up former Real Madrid coach Zidane to replace Pochettino.
The French legend is said to be traveling to Qatar to finalize his contract with the PSG owners, with the deal expected to officially end on Saturday.
Zidane, 49, has been without a role since leaving Real Madrid at the end of the 2020-21 season.
During his time at the helm of the team from the Santiago Bernabeu, Zidane won La Liga twice and the Champions League three times.
He recently took part in Real Madrid’s victory over Liverpool in the Champions League final at the Stade de France, as the Spanish champions won their 14th European trophy.
Fans, meanwhile, have speculated whether Pochettino has said goodbye to PSG fans with a ‘secret’ post on social media.
Pochettino posted on Instagram a series of photos from his playing days at the French club, accompanied by the caption: “Great memories”.
